Why not try some kind of accumulator inside the item-list like (untested
code concept):
[set tot_items interpolate=1][calc][scratch tot_items] +
[item-quantity][/calc][/set]
...I don't use [calc] much except for display, so you may find you need a
[perl] block for the actual calculation. [scratch tot_items] placed just
under the item-list should return the total quantity of all items ordered.
