Hmmm...try

[set logtime interpolate=1][tag time]%A, %B %d, %Y[/tag][/set]
[tag op=log file="pages/log/access.log" interpolate=1]
[scratch logtime] login: [value mv_username]
[/tag]

first and make sure you have the direcotry "pages/log" first to test it.
After this, you can do what you want.
