[mv] PGP (such a favorite subject)
****** message to minivend-users from David Babler <dbabler@Rigel.orionsys.com> ******
Okay, I'm back again for enlightenment.
Running FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE, MV4. Pgp 2.6.2 is installed and working, the
minivend owner has pgp keys generated. Sample catalog 'simple'.
All I'm trying to make work is to pgp-encrypt the credit card number in
the email copy sent to the store owner. To try to pare down the confusion
as much as possible, I'm working primarily with the routing statements (no
matter what, makecat NEVER puts anything other than 'none' for the
encryptor, but that's another matter). I have:
Route main encryptor_program "/usr/local/bin/pgp -feat store@domain"
where 'store@domain' is the real identity of the catalog owner. I've tried
it as shown and also with '2> /dev/null' appended to it. The command as
entered works as a command line executed by the minivend user, so I know
it's finding the right identity and keys. The problem is that under no
circumstance I've tried does it do any encrypting at all, and there are no
errors indicated either in the debug output or the catalog's error log
file. The permutations I've tried so far have produced:
o email with the CC as an attachment that said it was pgp, but
in fact was plaintext.
o nearly empty emails to the owner (only a '0' in the message
body).
The empty emails were produced when I set 'Route main encrypt 1'. The
current non-encrypted CC attachments are produced when I set:
Route main attach 1
Route main credit_card 1
Route main encrypt 0
Route main pgp_cc_key ""
Route main pgp_key ""
I've also tried specifying the keys and also got no encryption (and no
errors - looks like if you override the encryptor_program line it doesn't
use them, but I obviously don't know for sure). I see pgp being invoked in
the debug trace, and no errors. The encryptor string of
"/usr/local/bin/pgp -fat -r %s" referenced in the docs and some of the
archive entries DOES produce an error when I entered that in the ENCRYPTOR
line and the default entries for encryptor_program. What am I doing wrong?
