You've been asking a lot of questions this past week and most have been as
easy to understand as
your past two today. First and foremost, start by reading the
documentation. It covers the basics
on getting a catalog running and makecat can walk you through it if you
choose not to do it
manually.
I've learned that asking the same question over and over and LOUDER AND
LOUDER does nothing but
irritate the other members of the list. I received some sage wisdom during
my early months of MV
that if you do not receive an answer, it is either because:
1. the question was soooo poorly stated that no one has a clue to what
you are asking
2. your asking a question that is easily answered in the documentation,
FAQ or mail archives
3. everyone is busy working on their sites that they haven't had time to
consider the question
4. your question is so complex that no one has the answer on the tip of
their tongue.
Again, the first two are the MOST common reasons for a post going unanswered
and don't allow that
to frustrate you. I've posted a dozen times this past week and received
little or no help, but
guess what, I still figured it out because I didn't sit back waiting for an
answer or solution.
Roll up your sleeves, grab a cup of coffee and with the documentation open,
follow it. I've been
pouring through the docs and archives for the past two weeks. Many times,
the answers are there,
but it does take WORK!
