You may want to start with a copy of catalog.cfg from another (working)
catalog, or form the last working backup of the catalog in question; edit
just the site config variables for the catalog which is down. I have
occasionally mangled catalog.cfg files without realizing it because of an
extra (or missing) control character. Though the file may look ok in a
text editor, but minivend gags on it when it tries to process it, and the
catalog goes down.
