[mv] Preservation of session parameters across invocation of an external page?
****** message to minivend-users from Victor Churchill <jvictor@pobox.co.uk> ******
I need to connect to an external service provider from within a minivend site,
and then continue with the transaction when the user comes back. The external
provider generates some information using proprietary technology and returns an
HTML page which contains links that bring the user back to my site. I am able to
define how this page is built; the 3rd party just provides some magic stuff that
is included in the page.
So:
My minivend ->my CGI on 3rd party host->invoke magic stuff->assemble page with
links back->serve to user.
Am I right in thinking that as long as I pass the necessary session info to my
script on the external host, and have that info appended to the linkbacks in the
generated page, the user will come back intot he site with their information
intact? And is that information just the <q> ?id=WehUkATn&pc=33 </q> that
appears in the manual?
By the way, I don't want to depend on the use of cookies on the user's browser.
Thanks all,
-
