Okay still at work.. The only other reason i can think of as for why 
this [item-price] is not working is. I have it in the middle of a 
[calc] field

Is there a way to escape this?

I've now tried [item-price] and [loop-price] But didn't realize after 
my first post that it's in the middle of a [calc] tag (as seen in the 
simple demo from long ago

[calc]
                     return <<EOF if $inc % 2;
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#cccccc" align=left valign=top><font 
face="arial">[loop-price]</font></td>
</tr>
EOF
                     return '';
[/calc]
  (I snipped out all the other code. I've used this on the results 
page with [item-price] and I've used it in a [loop search] argument 
as well. still returns .00
