Yup, that's the way it is. We non native speakers always invent some English
words and are convinced they exist and are understood (which is often not
the case, but we don't know it).
The native speakers always use lingo well known among groups of certain
geographical/ethnic/professional/cultural groups and they too are convinced
that they are understood (which is often not the case, but they don't know
it).
We are all so polite not letting each other know that we "don't know
what the heck the other guy meant to say"....8-)
It starts to be really interesting when two different non native speakers
invent their own English usage and try to understand each other. If then
in addition the knowledge of English technical verbiage varies and a
liberal usage of spelling is considered progressive then we get.... what ?
A Kauderwelsch ? A double dutch, gibberish hotchpotch mish-mash ? Well, I
guess it works nevertheless as you are Perl-ers. 8-)
Take it easy.
