Malcolm,
I use Postgres for many projects and I use it with Minivend a bit. I
have always been happy with the speed of Postgres, and I really have
come to like and use some features which I've learned are not available
in Minivend. I very very rarely run into a feature that only Oracle has,
and I've always been able to live without them or work around them.
For Minivend, users report the least problems with MySQL though. I
have some problems with Postgres and Minivend now and then, and I'm not
sure I've resolved them all. If your primary use for your database is to
sit behind Minivend, I would choose MySQL for now. (In my case, since I
use Postgres for many non-minivend projects already, It makes sense to
me to stick with Postgres for Minivend as well.)
