[mv] Process Issue

I didn't see this in any previous discussions, but I still apologize if
this issue has come up already.

We are running MV 4.04a on our Linux server, and we keep running into the
same problem.  Once in a while, the MV process spawns multiple new parent
processes which do not seem to do anything except bring our system to its
knees.  We have to manually kill all of the processes (up to 14) and restart
the MV
program to correct the problem.  Has anyone ever seen this before?

Other relevant information:

We are running an older version of MV to handle one catalog which is not MV4
compliant.  We are positive that this is not the problem process since we
renamed the MV4 executable to reflect its version.
