[mv] Premature end of script headers ... Linux, MV 4.04
****** message to minivend-users from Toni Mueller <support-minivend@oeko.net> ******
Hello,
I try to set up minvend on my personal account from a 4.04
distribution tarball like this:
$ cd minivend-4.04
$ ./configure
(answering one question or other)
$ cd ~/mvend
$ ./bin/makecat simple
to work with my private web server (I'm in the habit of having each
user run her own webserver (on a different port, of course) for
development/testing/playing around). I've done this a dozen or so
times before and never run into a problem, but this time
it's different...
Another user on that machine is already running his private copy
of a web server and a minvend server, which I set up for him as
shown above. We both use a MySQL data base, both our own copy
of it. I can access the data base just fine, and it contains the
right tables and everything.
Now when I configured the 'simple' demo catalogue and try to
access it, I get the splash screen (that's static HTML in the
demo HTML directory under the document root), but when trying
to access the CGI (pressing "Enter"), I get 500 on the browser
side and
Premature end of script headers: /home/user/W3/cgi/simple
in my error log. No error is logged in either minvend/catalogue
error log. I already deleted the whole installation and tried
from the tarball again, but with no results. The other minivend
server runs fine... I killed that one and tried to run my
own because I thought there might be a contention for a socket
or so, but wrong again. I also searched the archive but found
only stuff saying "up the limits on your web server" and "You
have a data base connection problem...", and I diff'ed the
config from the working installation with the non-working
installation. They were identical except for the server port
number, path names to the CGI and similar things (data base
passwords, ...).
The machine is powerful enough to support several such test users.
So what gives?
Best Regards,
--Toni++
