[mv] Weird log... MV3

One of my clients is running a MiniVend 3.14 shopping cart.  Today I was 
looking thru the error log, and found that it had stopped.  I found another 
file in the catalog directory called

°¦ª?r.log

which had the rest of the error log.  I restarted the server and everything 
seems ok, but I'm a little paranoid.  Was it just a weird hiccup, or has 
anyone else seen something like this?
