When I see an internal server error, I always take a look at permission
settings on all the files first thing. Not sure permissions can cause a
catalog reconfigure fail (I haven't had this happen,) but you might want to
look, just in case it's file ownership or something.
What did you change in the catalog.cfg file, exactly? Also, are you getting
any errors from the deamon restart?
