[mv] Setting variables inside <a href> or similiar function?

****** message to minivend-users from jimtoro@hoflink.com ******

I want to be able to set variables when users click on certain links,
like if a user picks a link (simple <a href> I would like to bury
a set or seti somewhere in that link so the link is processed
as normal but a variable is set for future references. I tried alot
of things but it doesnt seem to work.

Is this sort of thing permissable?. If I put the [set][/set] or
[seti][/seti] statment inside the a href minivend doesnt complain
but it doesnt seem to work when referring to the var later nor does
it show up in viewing the source when viewing the page which leads
me to believe MV stripped it or processed it somehow but I am just
putting it in the wrong place.

Is there another way to do this?. I dont want a form-button, rather
I want it to look like a regular link but just set a var when the
link is clicked.

Thanks.
