[mv] MN4--Headache with interpolation on results page (bribes for help available)
****** message to minivend-users from Tim Murphy <tjmurphy@videotron.ca> ******
Hi (and sigh) all,
This seems like it *should* be so simple that I must be missing something. I have 4 databases
and in the search string created for a given category in the leftside file I include the
name of the database using "va=dbname=tbooks.txt" (tbooks.txt being one of the databases).
This results in the following URL:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cgi-bin/xxxxxxxxx/scan/se=general/fi=tbooks%2etxt/va=dbname%3dtbooks%2etxt/sf=category/ml=3.html?id=CIU47kWq
This works OK. I get a results page that accurately reflects the number of entries (i.e.
"Matches1-5 of 15 found") for the chosen category but all the data fields on the results page
(title, artist, comment, etc. etc.) simply contain my un-interpolated MML tags. To wit (using
title as an example):
In results.html I have a representative line:
<A HREF="[area [item-data [value dbname interpolate=1] sku]]">[item-data [value dbname
interpolate=1] title]</A>
[value dbname interpolate=1] evaluates correctly to "tbooks.txt" by itself (I tried it on the
page and it comes up fine). Yet the result of this as seen on the results page returned to my
browser is:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cgi-bin/xxxxxx/scan/sf=title/se=%5bitem%2ddata%20%5bvalue%20dbname%20interpolate%3d1%5d%20title%5d.html?id=CIU47kWq
In other words, after converting the URL excaping, I see:
"[item-date [value dbname interpolate=1] title] " instead of the actual title.
I have tried everything I can think of, changing where I add the interpolate=1, using named
attributes, putting quotes around different areas. Nothing I do seems to make Minivend
interpolate the dbname variable and then use that as the database specification for the
item-data tag. How the heck can I automate the results page to not use the default
products.txt database? Having to manually type the database specification for the different
item-data tags (in effect, creating separate results.html pages) defeats the purpose of MML!
I am stumped, and will gladly bribe someone with leftover turkey for any help (it's
Thanskgiving up here in Canada :^) ),
Thanks,
Tim
