Re: redhat 5.2 woes

****** message to minivend-users from Erik Aase-Remedios <erik@fourfish.com> ******

The only thing I'd add to this is: Don't 'rpm -e' your redhat perl! I
always compile my own perl, but I made the mistake of removing the RedHat
package once. Even though a newer and better perl is installed, tons of
packages won't install unless they see a record in the RPM database for
perl. So I leave it installed according to rpm, but delete it off of my
filesystem.

So, as Mike said, compile your own perl, if you can.
Also you might wish to delete the old /usr/bin/h2ph and other perl
utilities that were part of the old package and put the new ones in their
place (if you don't know what these are, then don't worry, you probably
will never use them).
