I have found out that one of the reasons we are seeing so many posts
without context is that people are reading the archive, and then
submitting answers in a new email message, often without bothering
to cut and paste in some context.

This is not good. We have always had this list relatively open, in that
we don't force posters to be subscribers, but at some point that might
change if the trend continues.
