"I am wondering if anyone made the change to IC to include manufacturers
in the listings. I thought that the idea to have a manufacturer in the
listing of the product and be able to let the customers pick by the
manufacturer would be something that was pretty nice."

We are doing that now on a beta site. The way that I am doing it is
parsing on the first part of the SKU which is a unique manufacturer id. 

I am wondering if anyone made the change to IC to include manufacturers
in the listings.

The other way that you could also do it is just search on the title
field of the product assuming the title has the manufacturer's name in
it.
