No problem at all.  Further, you can have one catalog that uses 1 MySQL 
products table, 2 PostgreSQL cat/area tables, and, perhaps 2 Oracle 
transactions/order line tables -- all in the same 
catalog.  :-)  Interchange is kind of unique that way.
