I am pretty sure that the new component IS being used, since if I remove
the additional search criteria within it (eg. se=xxxx) which was the
whole reason for having a separate component in the first place, the
resulting search returns different values (albeit to results,html!!). If
having selected the category link produced from the category_vertical
display in the browser address window, I manually enter sp=ssresults,
then refresh, the correct page with the correct results is displayed!.

I'm quite confused!.
