[ic] Question from newbie

If you have a "not found" error, the problem may well be in the
web server configuration, then it would be off-topic.

Anyway, given that it is not, I suggest you to do the simplest
thing: copy the perl cgi-bin (tlink.pl or vlink.pl, depends on
the way you wantr to talk to the IC server) in the cgi-bin directory
and rename it in a proper way (e.g.: foundation.cgi).
Edit it if you are using the Unix-socket version, to make
it use the right socket file.

Change interchange.cfg accordingly and also catalog.cfg; re-run IC and
look at what happens.
You should't get 404 error any more.

Manual procedures are prone to new errors, though.
If a new one comes in, before investigating, try to set the
suid bit for foundation.cgi (make it root-owned).
This is not a good practice but would help you understanding
if there are permission-problems.

Hello all. Before I get into my problem, let me introduce myself. My name is
Jonathan and I own a small ISP in south Mississippi. I am trying to provide a
service to some local churches and feel the the interchange program will
assist me greatly. But alas I am having a hard time getting it up and
running. Without boring all of you who have heard this sad song before for
too long, let me give you the run down:

I did the tarball installation, went like a charm. After a little trial and
error I got past the configure command as well as the makecat command
creating the default foundation store. At the end I started the interchange
server and followed the prompt to the url www.xxxxx.net/foundation but
nothing happened. I got the usual file not found page. Ok, I am running a
cobalt raq3 with all the requirements to install interchange. While I don't
know alot about the telet side of things neither pearl and all that stuff, I
am assuming that it has something to do with the cgi portion of the install.
If anyone knows how to get around this please help.

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan
