[ic] is the "ord" folder necessary?

You can take them out of that directory if you like.

Previous Interchange demos used to have "ord" and "multi", where
"multi" held a demo of a multi-page order process.  There is no
security difference that comes from having, or not having, the files
in the "ord" directory.

I like to have separate subdirectories for different groups of files,
which saves cluttering up the "pages" directory, so I have an "ord"
directory on my system.  You can do what you like on yours.
