[ic] deleted item -> options stay

hi ic-users!

i have a question on the variants (option table) in interchange.
when i delete a product (item) which had some variants, the "master" entry
for the sku stays in the option table. i thought of a bug, but installed
4.9.5. and! 4.8.7... i also tried  the online demo at icdevgroup but its the
same there.
now my question: is this wanted "feature" ?
if you delete many items, your options table could be very messy after a
while.
