[ic] Recording Date of Item Creation?

Hello all,

I am trying to figure out how to record the date an item/sku is added
to the database through Admin? I know how to add the new database
field.

I'm pretty sure I seen the solution posted in the archives but I'm
having a problem finding it via a search because the word "date"
appears at the bottom of every post in the archives, lol.
