I also run 5.4, but I don't use the admin order entry - we get our 
people to enter orders from the front end just like customers.
If I really needed it, I would try to debug the admin entry on the 
back end to fit my needs. I can't say about upgrading to 5.5, because 
I haven't looked to see if there are any database changes - proceed 
carefully on that option.

You might be able to copy the needed (newer admin) file from 5.5 and 
see if it works on your 5.4 backend - I would try this first (easiest 
:) - make sure you backup your old file.

Others on this list might have a little more insight, but I think 
most are out on vacation.
