PMFJI,  but if it's of any interest to you I have another patch for the
date widget that does 2 things:
allows the format to be in ddmmyyyy, yyyymmdd, default mmddyyyy
allows settable start and end dates per widget, eg n years prior to or
after the current year; or an absolute start or end date.
