RH 5.2 and .configure

I have tried for 2 days now to run configure and keep getting the same
result.

After a little while (running test.pl) the following
server ... ok 1
Socketlink .... not ok 2

THen it exits.

I set the error to )0 in test.pl as a test and installed into a user
called minivend but never could get the server to start. It always says
minivend.cfg sytax error line 1.

I have Apache 1.3.4 with ssl and php
RedHat 5.2
