Programm Error: Install Script exiting

dear minivend-team,
as a team of SAP R/3 consultants, we are very interested in integrating such
a nice little product like Your's in our IT-environment. we are looking
forward to installing and x-ing MINIVEND with our databases (testing!).
only one (seeming) simple problem: having studied all your FAQs and
error-resolving reports we can't get it running. the server seems to run
perfectly under SUSE6.0 linux. but during the setup of the SIMPLE catalog
example, we are always fucked up with a problem of the installation script:
it says that it cannot create the link of wheather VLINK or TLINK to our
"/usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/"/simple path. ERROR MESSAGE: no such file or
directory. so we made an "ln /home/0001/mvend/bin/<tlink or vlink>
/usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/simple" and made a "chmod 755
/usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/simple".
the clients' web browsers access the site "http://<hostname>/cgi-bin/simple"
without problems: There is no data in the browser for about 2 minutes;
suddenly the browser stops with a B.U.S.Y. message from MINIVEND: "We're
sorry, the MiniVend server is unavailable...
We are out of service or may be experiencing high system demand, please try
again soon."

We've tried the whole week - still no enhancements of the project.
As we'd like to present solutions for e-commerce with R/3 to our board of
directors before the CeBIT, would you mind giving us some pof. hints for
that problem?
We are a team convinced of alternative platforms and we are NOT fishing for
FREE-OF-CHARGE solutions.
P.L.E.A.S.E. give us some hint.
