the leftside page is read by minivend when the catalog is restarted or reconfigured. This is
because leftside is defined as a variable in the catalog.cfg file. You should substitute
__LEFTSIDE__ with [include pages/leftside.html] so you can view your changes in without
having to restart the minivend server (copy leftside to leftside.html).
