Is anyone interested in setting up a basic SQL order database FOR MONEY<grin> (Has become very long)

Hi all...

I have been lurking here on the list for MONTHS and have a very rudimentary
knowledge of HTML , Perl and CGI and have been looking for an order database
for my website for ages. Most of the postings here simply go right over my
head.

I am looking for someone that can set up a SQL fed database with my ISP
using Minivend ....I am prepared to pay for this as I dont have the
technical know-how to do this myself ...the requirements would be....

To have a list of TITLES (actually videotapes or items used for them) with a
quantity field beside it where a customer can simply enter a quantity of
each item to purchase...the items selected would then appear in a frame at
left of screen and at the most basic would contain the total TITLES
purchased and also the UNITS purchased (eg customer bought 5 titles of 32
units)

I would need the ability to sort the catalogue by month (I currently store
the data in an Access database and although I do store the actual system
date with each title I have found it easier for my purposes to use a format
(stored with each title) of 199911, 199912, 200001 etc and also by
distributor

each title has a unique ID code and is always 6 digits (eg
....892673, DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE, CBS-FOX Video, 199911)

I would like it to appear spreadsheet style on the website like

CBS-FOX Video
Die hard With aVengeance QTY
Freddys revenge QTY

WARNER HOME VIDEO
Rocky QTY
Rocky II QTY

and so on....

The client does not need to see the ID number but of course this would be
handy when we get the data returned

I currently MANUALLY prepare a simple mail to form and although the mail to
is effective I dont have any totalling functions with this

It would be great to somehow connect Access up DIRECTLY to an order database
on my website but this is not essential...I am happy to continue using a
mailto arrangement. We currently recieve around 100 orders per month with
the mail-to option and it doesnt take a great deal of time to manually
import those orders into Access.

The biggest things I need to beat with the setup I have now are....

The ability to sort the items (titles) into distributor/month/year order (at
the moment they need to be SEPARATE pages)...a pain
The ability to total the orders (titles/units)

This is what I would like at its most basic ...there are other things OF
COURSE but then we start talking about the length of string <grin>

By the way the customers are all qualified (that is the web is used for
convenience ...we already know who they are) of course we need their info
also with the order

My ISP (this is a normal dial up account) who hosts my domain runs...
Sun Microsystems Inc. SunOS 5.7
version of Perl .....unknown (I have telnetted in and tried to find out the
version and hunted all over the place for the command to find out what
version he is running....not succesful at this stage...can anyone tell me
how I find out?)

I can use CGI via CGIWRAP and have a couple of mailto forms working this way
now

Is anyone prepared to take it on? as I said financial arrangements can be
sorted out...The reason I want to use Minivend is its OBVIOUS features that
although I wont be using initially I can grow with it over time....

Sorry for the length of this post...

Regards
