Help with Minivend dying - Spurious PID file

Greetings!

I'm noticing an common pattern with the stopping of my mv server. I'm still
in test mode so I have no shoppers to contribute to my problem. I see by the
time of error messages that mv is being stopped fairly regularly although
not when I'm clumsily working on it. The error message is as follows.

Spurious PID file for process 23675 supposedly running 301 seconds.

With the lack of activity at crash time, I tend to think mv is not the
problem. Is my ISP running some daemon killer that wipes the process? I'm
running Apache, Linux and MV 3.14-3. Any help would be greatly appreciated
as I obviously can't go live with it dying like this.
