[mv] Are shipmodes arbitrarY?

In other words, may I set the value of mv_shipmode to anything so long as
it matches a line in shipping.asc? Is this ok:

camel	By Camel	weight	0	150	u upsg [value zip]	

so long as it is activeted my mv_shipmode being set equal to camel?
