[mv] Using SQL's DB's
****** message to minivend-users from ericho@vantixnet.com (Erich Oliphant) ******
Hi,
I am setting minivend up to work via DBI. I have a products database in MS Access (it will be Oracle, but this was easier to work with while I figure everything out). The code, description and price (among other) fields are defined. There are about 1,000 records in the product DB. The following code:
[if items]
We have items!!!
[else]
We have no bananas!
[/else]
[/if]
Returns "We have no bananas!". I know that Minivend is connecting to the DB because I get no complaints when I start up the catalog. To confirm this, I temporarily renamed my products table and restarted the catalog. I got an error indicating that MV could not find the products table.
So, in short, MV gets into the database, confirms the exisistence of the product table, but seems to think that the products table is empty.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Erich
P.S. Has anyone compiled additional notes/examples/faq's etc? Some of the stuff, especially as it relates to putting your cat into a SQL db, is not entirely clear in the manual and FAQ.
