If you are using link type searches, you could just set
a var in the link which would be easily accessible:

Search link:

[area scan mp=thumbs/se=8/se=4/va=se1=8/va=se2=4]

(the 8 and 4 could be set from other tags like
va=[value foobar] )

then on search results page:

[value se1]
[value se2]

Those will give you what was set for each one.

Maybe this would do what you need.
