****** message to minivend-users from Birgitt Funk <birgitt@booktraders.com> ******
... I am happy that MV is GPL.
Hi, read this.

<quote>
The tech bills spring from a proposal with an arcane name, the
Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA). Should
states pass this legislation, the impact on consumers would be dramatic:
* If customers fall behind on fees or software lease payments, sellers
would have the right to reach into customers' computers and remotely
shut off programs.
</quote>
I am just wondering, as this means that
.. UCITA lets software companies reach into desktop computers on
which sensitive data is stored... then Microsoft et al are in a
position to breach the confidentiality ISPs and business owners of
e-commerce websites are assuring their customers to safeguard, yes?
Speaking of e-commerce security ... look who could _legally_ go
into your server and catch all those sensitive data if this bill
is passed. Or do I get it wrong ?
Thanks to Mike Heins for not making us pay license fees and sign a lease
contract for MV.
