What you actually need to do is search your specials file (or just list 
it's entire contents using [tag loop each]), and pull in the appropriate 
data from the other "related" files as needed.  The results page search 
list would look something like this:

[search-list]
[item-code]
[item-data desc description]
[item-data products category]
[item-data specials price]
[/search-list]

This is untested.  I am not sure of the syntax.  You may need to use [data 
database::column::[item-code]] syntax for retrieving data from outside the 
specials file instead.  You will also need to set up your special pricing 
so that minivend uses it instead of the products::price column.  But this 
is the basic idea.
