I'm not sure about my understanding your trouble. I've gotten the same
trouble and message from MV4 at the first installtion of MV4 in FreeBSD.
I have solved this with "chown -R mvend:mvend <vendroot Version 4>". I
have noticed some files or directory with another user and/or group name
instead of minivend user and/or minivend group. Maybe this can solve
your trouble.
