[mv] Still struggling with mv4 installation.

****** message to minivend-users from Ed LaFrance <edlafrance@printexusa.com> ******

Attempting install on an ISP's server running Perl 5.00503 and BSDI BSD/OS
4.0.1. Make install ends prematurely with the message included below. I
manually rename minivend.cfg.dist to minivend.cfg (in the vend root), and
then issue the start server command and it seems to work, but apparently is
does not, or it dies instantly. From then on, any attempts to stop or
restart the server result in the error "Could not lock file: Permission
denied."

Writing /home/v/visprox/mvend/auto/MiniVend/.packlist
## Differing version of ./perllocal.pod found. You might like to
rm /usr/libdata/perl5/5.00503/i386-bsdos/perllocal.pod
## Running 'make install UNINST=1' will unlink this file for you.
Appending installation info to /home/v/visprox/mvend/perllocal.pod
/usr/bin/perl Makefile.PL force final=/home/v/visprox/mvend
www-pws7: {18} % cd /home/v/visprox
www-pws7: {19} % mvend/bin/minivend -start
Low traffic settings.
Calling MiniMate....
MiniVend V4.02
MiniVend server started in INET and UNIX mode(s) (process id 27940)
Continuing in UNIX MODE ONLY
www-pws7: {20} % mvend/bin/minivend -restart
Could not lock file: Permission denied

www-pws7: {21} % ps
   PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND
27353 p1 Ss 0:00.36 -tcsh (tcsh)
27951 p1 R+ 0:00.01 ps
www-pws7: {22} %

Earlier in the process it fails make test:

link/inetmode.........not ok 5
server/control........not ok 6

I am wondering if these two are related, because there is a TCP Port
directive in minivend.cfg?

I will just keep trying until my fingers get bloody. I anyone can shed
some light on this, I would be much appreciative. I realize the problem in
much more likely to lie in the ISP's server setup, but if I am to enlist
there help, I need to be able to provide them with some meaningful information!
