[mv] "goup by" sql query doesnt work with minivend

Anyone know why this doesnt work?

http://blah/cgi-bin/cstore/search.html?st=sql&mv_matchlimit=10&mv_search_pag
e=searchresults&mv_sql_query=SELECT+*+FROM+blah+goup+by+stock

The exact same query works in mysql. This works in minivend though:
http://rootwurm/cgi-bin/cstore/search.html?st=sql&mv_matchlimit=10&mv_search
_page=searchresults&mv_sql_query=SELECT+*+FROM+Airbrush

Do I need to install some other dbi or something for the "goup by" to work?
Any help appreciated.
