I´ve not test or check this case. But you can check it by yourself.
Insert a new database in your catalog.cfg (simply copy the products.asc
MV3.x or products.txt MV4.x to for example productstest.asc and so on).
Use the makecat script and restart your minivend server. Visit your new
database via your browser and MV and see what you get. Well...make your
changes in your new database, copy this file into the catalog directory
and check it again (without restarting your minivend server).

What results will you get?
