No. If the bare perl command does not run 5.005 then you should enter the
full path to your 5.005 version of perl. Just run perl -v to see the
version and if it's OK go for it. If it's not you'll need to find the
location of the newer perl or install the latest version yourself.

When you run "perl Makefile.PL" it asks a series of questions.

The installation process is about as close to a standard perl installation
as you could hope for.

Just follow the instructions. If you have root it's pretty painless.
I've never tried installing under ~ , my guess is that would be more
difficult to get going.
