Since there are thousands of people who manage to get Minivend to
find Perl, the greatest portion of whom run it on RedHat Linux, I
sincerely doubt it is a bug.

I don't know what it is; my best guess is that someone
transferred the files in some funky fashion and managed to
corrupt the distribution.
