[mv] Image Uploading

******    message to minivend-users from Chris Rapier <rapier@psc.edu>     ******

I know this has been addressed in the mailing list previously but I was
wondering if there were any solutions that would allow me to keep the
image directory in its current /www/site/images location?

Background: I'm trying to upload product images via minimate for use in
catalog. I've tried using symbolic links from the eg
/catalog/pages/images/ -> /www/site/images and conversely
/www/site/images -> /catalog/pages/images. Neither one functions
properly. When I have the actual images directory in the catalogs branch
the webserver is denied permision to read the images (even though they
seem to be set properly). When I have the symbolic link in the catalogs
branch the files are never actually stored (is this a minimateism or a
function of http?).

Does anyone have a reasonable solution to this? Should I just have the
clients use FTP? Would it be better to use the ImageAlias tag or woudl I
have similar problems as realted above?
