Thanks for your responses Mike and Stefan.
The above is the sort of change I was asking about it. Without
understanding the internals of MV, I'm not sure what sorts of things
would break it's database abstraction layer, which certainly has it's
merits. Now I've realized that partly what happened here was an
interface misunderstanding. I thought
"Partial Update: Add Records" would just be doing inserts and no
updates, in which case a key wouldn't be needed. Perhaps the feature I
want-- to add a bunch of new rows from a file doing just inserts-- is
not currently available.
