Depends what do you need it for and for whom you work. If you have time
to learn and it is just to gain experience, than MV is ok for your
described skill level. Actually, I consider MV very good for learning
purposes, because it will challenge you and present you with very
real, existing problems and will demand of you to help finding
also solutions.
If you are under time pressure and have to deliver a solution for mission
critical projects or if you make yourself financially dependent on the
proper function of an online e-commerce business project, which uses MV,
you might be very careful to examen your existing skills, your business
plan, your time frame and your mental potential to cope with a steep
learning curve and continuously changing circumstances.
An if you have just a bunch of time and love to explore things, you are
welcome to join and help to make MV perfect. Other skillful people have
found amazing goodies hidden in the source code of MV, but you have
to search for them. They are a little shy in coming out to the forefront
and show off their "stuff".
8-)
Good luck.
