Is there anyway that I can include some PHP elements in the shopping cart??

Sitewide I use an include script to dynamcially create the header and footer
to all our pages and I'd like to include those same dynamic elements on the
shopping cart.

I tried putting some PHP in there, but it dosen't do anything.  WHen on the
shopping cart page I can veiw souce and see my include statements but it
dosen't execute them.

Any ideas??

ps.  Any word on weather there will be a PHP version of the cart??
