I can confirm this. A Barcode scanner is not a problem. Really! 
If you need any input (sku) by your Barcode scanner, you can use it like
your keyboard. 
(Dependent the Barcode is programmed right, for example "tabs" instead
of "return" or "carriage line" or "CR" or whatsoever).

Or if you are able to do all with any kind of "web/internet
applications", you can do with minivend too.

Or in short words....if you have a fine solutions with minivend _and_
without Barcode scanner, you can use all this _with_ the Barcode scanner
and I believe, you don't spent more than some few minutes to use the
Barcode scanner.
