afaik there are a number of reasons to abandon Apache as old as 1.2.5,
not only programming errors. Perhaps a look at www.apache.org or
www.apacheweek.com could help.
BTW, getting 1.3.12+mod_perl-1.21 is, doable, not a problem. I'd say
go for it, and try again.
