2 Mysql parse questions

Hello all,

i have 2 questions for queries:

1. my searchfield includes 'and / characters. the one click search is:
[page href="st=sql/sq=select * from db where field = [sql-param 1]"]
sql-param 1 is misinterpreted and results in a 500 error.

2. i have 5 tables because of about 480000 entries in products. how can i do
a search ie:

    from products where field = argument
    and from 2 other tables where field = argument.

3. also sql is really slow in text searches in a column. any ideas how to
spead up?
any help would be appreziated.

running MV 3.11 and MYsql 3.21.29
