Re: [mv] bug report: MV4.02 makecat stalls (further info and a workaround)
****** message to minivend-users from Mark Stosberg <mark@summersault.com> ******
Hello!
Since no one had any ideas on my problem (below), I decided to
research my own problem. :)
Here's as far as I got:
I added print statements in makecat to trace the problem. I had traced
it has far as
the "ReadParse" routine in IniConf.pm when I decided to check my
etc/makecat.cfg file.
It hasn't been modified for over a month and it has this huge file
size:
-rw-r--r-- 1 mvend mvend 10541108 Feb 17 18:28 ../etc/makecat.cfg
The top of the file looks normal and the bottom repeats this part over
and over and over...
<snip>
# New catalog definition '?' written by makecat
aliases=
cgidir=
cgiurl=
catuser=
demotype=
imagedir=
imageurl=
mailorderto=
minivenduser=

permtype=
samplehtml=

servername=
catroot=

</snip>
I'm guessing that a month ago I tried to do 'makecat ?' trying to see
what the options are (apparently neither the ? or -h option are
supported). Something went crazy and appended these lines over and over
to the makecat file.
I removed etc/makecat.cfg, re-ran makecat, and things worked again.
Cool.
